Not seeing them in the daylight or on the side of the road at night. Where are they hiding in this heat wave?

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

There are lots of acorns in the woods where I hunt in South Alabama so I suspect the deer are staying in the woods and not having to travel far for food. I have not seen nearly as many deer early in the morning on my way to work as I normally have in years past.

In my area, there are still some acorns and LOTS of fresh, green browse.

The deer are not having to come out of the woods to find food.

Heck, there are still flowers blooming down here. They have so much natural green browse right now they don't need to go looking for a corn pile.
Also, with these rains I suspect a lot of the deeper really good spots on folks' hunting properties are mostly inaccessible right now. I know of 80 acres on my place that nobody is getting to without a boat and chainsaw for the next two or more weeks.

I opened my shop door day before yesterday and something fell on my head. It was a tree frog. Heck frogs were all over the road last night too. Never seen them this late in December.

Yup, we were admiring the Christmas frogs, the Christmas lizards, the Christmas marigolds and azaleas, and the Christmas hole in the highway yesterday. The Lord gave us Spring for Christmas. laugh

All my game camera pics are nocturnal. Didn't see any deer on hunts from 12/18-12/22. Heard no shots on all these dates except for early morning duck hunters. Worse deer season ever. Guess I should have gone duck hunting too! rofl

I'm ready for next week, especially after Tuesday. Weather finally looks right.
