The longer I am on this forum and the more I read from the so-called trophy hunters......the more turned off I become to them.
And, I gotta add, I do find it amusing that most of them have never posted any pics of any trophy deer! LOL They are being killed and kept quiet because of people like the "killers" that frequent this site. Many of us cringe at the thought most of you hunting next door to us.

I don't care what any of yall shoot..My benchmark changes from hunt to hunt, and I have killed a few with many different weapons. Yall should try to have fun. Their is no fun in it for some unless it's a mature deer. That's my fun. But I am not suppose to feel that way so it doesn't insult any of you.

The longer I am on this forum and the more I read from the so-called trophy hunters......the more turned off I become to them.
And, I gotta add, I do find it amusing that most of them have never posted any pics of any trophy deer! LOL I'll never understand it myself. I've only killed one racked buck in my LIFE! It was a small 8point that I hunted my ass off to kill about 3 or so years ago. Some folks just don't have the opportunity or land to see a lot of deer and they take advantage of what they do get to see. Fast forward to this year and I'm in a really good club in TN. I've had the best season I've ever had as far as deer hunting and seeing tons of deer (bucks and does) in the woods. I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet, but then again I'm seeing TONS of deer and simply having the opportunity to kill deer makes you a different hunter. Looking down on others that may not have that same opportunity is selfish and quite frankly those folks that do that looking down can go phuck themselves. IDOT I remember when you killed that deer and everybody on this website was tickled to death for you. But like you said you'd probably rather let a buck just like that one walk off and enjoy watching him more than shooting him now. I haven't been a deer hunter very long either and I've never killed a real big deer yet. I've always been a turkey hunter and I just never had a lot of interest in it. T Winters carried me with him a time or 2 and I kinda got hooked on it once I realized there's a lot more to it than just sitting down and waiting for a deer to come walking by you. The first buck I killed was a pretty little 3 year old 8 point...... I had found some good sign and figured there might be a good deer in there and caught him checking a scrape one evening right before dark. I was tickled to death and couldn't have been prouder. Fast forward to last season and I stayed in the woods a little too late and shot a pretty little 3 year old with a big body chasing a doe right at dark. It was basically a twin to the first buck I killed but instead of being proud of it I felt sick because that deer could have been a real stud if he had lived a couple more years. It sounds like you and I both are progressing as deer hunters and we've figured out its a lot more fun to just let the younger bucks walk and watch them as opposed to blasting them. That seems pretty natural to me. I think what the original poster was referring to was the guys that just keep piling up 2 year olds year after year. Some of them are really good hunters but they are just bloodthirsty. Most of the guys like that don't bother stopping at 3 bucks a season either. So when it's put that way (and I do believe that's how the original poster intended it) I don't see what makes a grown man wanna keep shooting little tiny yearling bucks and 2 year olds either. I don't think he meant it to apply to people that have either never killed or seen many deer or to people that only get to hunt a couple times a season. You're right...Just figuring out where to hunt and actually seeing deer is good enough for me now until I see what I want to shoot. I was a little harsh towards the end of my post,,,I'll change that.
If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

I guess I am just different. The goal of hunting is to kill.....and, I like to kill deer. True enough, I do try to kill mature deer. But, that is just a decision, not a goal. There is nothing wrong with Management, Farming for deer OR Trophy Hunting. They are all great fun for different people. The line is crossed when one group tries to force their ideas on all the others. That is simply my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own. X2 To each his own

If I ever find a lease to put in my name, I'll take the guy that shoots a 2.5 year old 8 point over the guy that kills 3 to 6 does every year. I've killed some good deer in my life, and I only kill 1 deer a year, but I will kill the first decent or average 8pt. I see every year. I haven't killed a doe since I think 2002, so I feel like I've earned the right to shoot the 1 deer I want, whatever age or score he has. I shoot lots of does off my place or I did when I had a bunch. I don't shoot many now cause I have the numbers where I want them. I try to let deer get old and keep pressure off them. But what do I know?

To each his own. I rarely kill more than one buck a year, due to selection and Choice. I try to shoot mature bucks only, that being 3 1/2 or older. I kill a doe or two to eat throughout the year. When I take my 9 year old son, which is more often than not, he can shoot what ever he wants.

Kids & those that haven't killed any/many should be able to kill whatever is legal & makes them happy. Us seasoned hunters should be able to use some restraint. When I take my little girl (who has killed 1 doe & 1 buck) I'll ask her "what do you wanna shot today?", if she says "the first deer we see" then that's what it'll be.

Serious question........
Why are people SO obsessed with what other people kill. Especially when they have NO idea as to their situation and hunting area.
If I kill every 4 yr old + buck on all my places, or none.......there is not the 1st person on this board that I know of that will be affected by it.
And, due to many factors, including the 3 buck limit and access, there are places that I have that there will not be a deer killed this year. And, guess what, they STILL are not gonna move to areas of more pressure so that someone else can kill them.
Hunt for your own reasons and forget about what others are doing. It will make your hunting much more enjoyable. The greed is consuming some of y'all......

I could give two farts less what other people think about what I do. I like back strap filets wrapped in bacon on the grill. I like cube steak. I like sausage and burger......and all that don't come from no horns! That being said, there is a trophy hunter in me but not down here in Baldwin county. I go to Selma to trophy hunt. Doesn't make sense to me to be a trophy hunter in an area where the biggest buck killed in 25 years won't score over 100".

What if a high school coach had told Michael Jordan that he prolly would not be good enough to play at a higher level. How many other players motivation and drive would have been negatively affected by settling for something less. Greatness is achieved by not settling.
