I've got a Remington 710 (cheap rifle/scope combo from late 90's/early 2000's) in .30-06 that LOVES core-lokt ammo. It will shoot 1" groups at 100yds all day long with 180gr Core-Lokts. I haven't shot a deer with that rifle, so I can't speak [personally] to performance on an animal, but they shoot really well.

I think most agree the bullet itself performs very well, its just the QC is lacking and apparently there is an issue with whoever is supplying their primers.

I have thought about just buying the bullets and loading my own. Problem solved. I've got a bunch of Hornady loads I need to shoot up first though .

Ask the 350 lb castrated boar and the 2 male yotes I shot this past Friday morning using 150 grain corelokts in my 30:06. The hog was 35 yds, one yote was 125 yds and the other yote was 275 yds. I sure hope I don't jinx myself but the corelokts have always been a dependable bullet for my guns.

30/06 180gr pointed soft point core locs is all I use. No problems and never had a well placed shot deer get away. Great bullet with heavy knock down power.

I've shot at least several hundred (possibly over a thousand) rounds in several different calibers from half a dozen rifles and one pistol (rem xp100 in 7mm-08 while recovering from nearly tearing my arm off in the military) and never had any issues with them.

I still shoot them today. I buy them on sale and put them up for when I need them.

I have personally seen two different friends have multiple misfires recently with Core Lokts in .30-06. Someone just posted a thread on this very problem in the local fishing forum too. I have used them for years in my .270s with no issues but after witnessing those misfires and reading about so many of them, I am leaving them behind. I would be sick to lose an opportunity at a great buck due to a misfire and I am not going to chance it.

I used to shoot Remington Broze Points out of my .270. Had 3 out of a box click. That's why I've shot nothing but Hornady and Federal ever since.

I know this is the wrong forum but since we are talking Core Lokt, I have a brand new box of 270 Core Lokt if someone is interested in buying them. I live in Autauga county.

I just bought a box of 130 grain .270's last night. 19.99 + tax. There must be a bunch of us that use them because that was the first box i have seen on the shelf at a big box store this year. I have always used core locts and never had a problem.

Never have had good accuracy results with core-lokt bullets. Out of any rifle of any kind. Buy box of them, shoot em or pull the bullets with a bullet puller for those that misfire and reload the brass. Ha!

Every deer I've taken with a long gun has been with the same Rem 700BDL in 30-06 with 150gr core lokts. Well and from 1 box of hornady light magnums. Most deer were DRT. Still shooting from a stockpile that is 15-20 years old. I just hope newer rounds are as reliable cause I'm down to about a box of the old stuff. It doesn't take high dollar cartridges to bring down a whitetale. I understand and appreciate that some like to experiment and handload custom rounds but for now I don't reload and stick with what has proven to work. The only reasons I plan on changing is if they become unreliable or if I get the opportunity to hunt in an area where extreme weather calls for more 'failsafe' design.

I don't understand the aversion to quality ammo. Shoot whatever you want but why skimp on the cheapest part of the hunt? You could shoot the most expensive ammo made and it is still a lot cheaper for that shot than the gas it took to drive to your hunting spot.

+1 for years now; perform like a champ. if one doesn't fire, shuck it out & load another one in. lol so far, i've never had a misfire & i've dropped a lot of deer w/'em.
