My farthest to date is about 1/2 a mile maybe a bit more. I shot a buck about 6 years ago, and after walking off the distance (318 yds.), I realized it was farther than what I thought. I grazed his belly enough to allow the guts to start coming out. I trailed him by following pieces of gut and organs coming out. He eventually lost his stomach. I caught up with him next to a creek dying but very much alive. I put him down for good but felt bad that he had suffered as much as he had. I'm a bit more careful with shot placement now.
