About a month ago I met an ALdeer member and a fellow Auburn student when he generously offered me a binocular harness

Saturday night he offered to take me deer hunting for the first time.
Sunday morning my girlfriend and I woke up early to make sure my rifle was sighted in.
She was acting as my spotter.

Got back to my apartment and got the car packed up and I was off to Dallas county.
My goal for my first hunt was to take a nice doe.

When I arrived I transferred everything into his brothers truck and then we headed out.
We went to a beautiful lease near the Dallas/Lowndes county line. Upon arrival we got everything out and then walked in.

We arrived into the stand on a good size food plot around 3:30ish. His brother was hunting a nearby field.

We got situated and began glassing not seeing much at all. Finally one lone doe cruises out of the woods. We waited for more deer to follow but nothing ever showed. She would not turn broadside so I waited what seemed like an eternity watching her through my scope the crosshairs bouncing all over the place.
I finally got a good shot, slipped my earplugs in and moved the safety forward.
I took the shot at 120 yards around 4:25, she reared up hard when the bullet impacted, ran about 15 yards did a tight circle then went down.
When she went down he gave me a huge bear hug and told me congrats.

Everyone arrived back to the truck around dark, unloaded the 4wheeler off the trailer and went to retrieve my deer.

My Tikka T3 in 7MM08 with a Leupold VXI 3-9X40 using Hornady 139gr SST performed flawlessly.

After we got back and everything loaded up we had a celebratory beer then drove to the processors.

This was a day of generosity to the max, I felt like an adopted member of the family and was treated as such.
Thank you.

It's ok. I'm happy being an Auburn student in this beautiful town.

Might have to get a 10gauge for those rats with wings. I'm still convinced that they had radar knowing where I was and avoided that field.

Awesome man. Congrats!

I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

That might be all the scoring around Auburn for a week or so.
