My son is a pretty good caller. He is 15 and has a couple of cheap calls. I was wanting to buy him a decent call for this year that would be relatively easy but good. Any recommendations?

I've killed more ducks with my primos original wench than my buddies that use RNT calls. the most effective call on my lanyard is my roller whistle.

RNT Daisy Cutter is my favorite, and with the right tuning, it's a great do-it-all call. Can make it relatively easy to run if you play with trimming the reeds. It's been a while since I've tinkered with them but I believe shorter reed and bigger "dog ears" makes it easier to run.

I'm far from an experienced caller but I learned on a Daisy Cutter and a Microhen

Side Note: got bored one day and started playing around with them.....a Microhen Barrel with a Daisy Cutter insert in it sounds freakin' awesome!

Echo XLT is fairly easy to blow and sounds great in the timber.

If He is already a decent caller, you need to get him in a sporting goods store where he can blow a large selection of them. Mack's PW is the best for this. Everybody likes different calls, even good callers.

Absolutely get him a single reed. Easy to blow, isn't really a thing in my mind, when talking about single reed j-frames. You simply tune the call to your style, and if its a quality call, then you will be able to make it sound good. Get a call that he likes, buy him a pack of reeds and corks, and let him go at it. He will figure it out. Ex. I hate a call that can't handle air pressure. So, take something like a Echo timber or a microhen, with a bit longer reed, and I'll do nothing but squeal on it, unless I change my air presentation.

Purse your lips like you are blowing through a straw, use your gullet to control the tone.

An echo xlt comp meat is one of my favorites

^^^^^this. Also good in a flooded field. Look for Keith Allen CD on duck calling. Best CD ever made to learn the right way to blow a call.

Hey 45, you heading to AR this weekend?

The easiest rnt to blow for a beginner to me is the microhen. But I love my short barrel.

Any of the timber calls are going to have a small bore diameter and be easier to blow.

I like Echo Timber... just the step up to a good wood one like this is cheaper and way better than a cheap plastic call. I guess about $90 vs. $120+ for an acrylic.

RNT daisy cutter. It's not necessarily easy to blow.....
