I just shot a doe yesterday straight down through the spine and out the chest. Is that an ethical shot? She's dead! Just wondering what the internet ethics committee thinks? She came out of some thick stuff right behind me and stood at the base of my tree for a while. I waited for a bit to see if she would move with no joy. So I leaned all the way over out of my climber and shot almost straight down. Right through the spine, and out the chest. Not my first choice of a shot, but the one she gave me! I think where and how you shoot also depends on what type of place you are hunting. I was on public land with no shooting lanes, no plot, tree limbs all over the place etc... Out there, there's almost never the most PERFECT shot available to you with a bow. I don't take head or neck shots. I always try for the vitals. This time, it just happened to be through the top of the deer! I've killed many deer with a between the shoulder blades spine shot. To me that's a good shot IF you know for sure you can make it.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
