Having graduated from Parris Island in 1980. The first portion of that movie is probably the most accurate portrayal of what the experience is like.

I don't think I took a dump for the first week I was there... Seriously.

We had 4 Drill Instructors and at first I couldn't believe human beings could be like that. I took quite a while for the shock of it to wear off, but even after that you never relaxed. You learn a lot about yourself in there and what you can endure as a human.

Our Senior Drill Instructor, who was a cigarette smoker, used to run around and around our platoon the whole time we were on our 5 miles runs. And back then we ran in combat boots.

Up until that time in my life I had never met more badass individuals. I still think of my Drill Instructors as some kind of super humans.

Me... 35 Years ago... With my butthole cinched up tighter than a whale's ass... grin
