What do you think is a realistic number of bucks scoring 130 or more per square mile (640 Acres) to be killed each year on a lease in Alabama. Lets assume you do your very best to only kill bucks that are 4.5 year old or older, and all your neighbors are doing the same. An ample number of does are being killed to prevent overpopulation but still a good population of deer exist on the property And this is average timber company land pine plantation scatted hardwood and clearcuts no big soybean fields.
I would say if you expect to average killing more than 1 per square mile your expectations are probably to high. You may have a good year where you kill more than that but probably some bad years with less. Just wonder what everyone else thinks.

In my area of the state, less than 1 per 5 square miles.
I hunt 6 miles from the AL state line in TN. I've personally killed 5 bucks 4.5 or older in my property and as a group we've killed at least 16 bucks 4.5 or older. I've got a catalog of pics since 2005 of dozens if not over 100 bucks 3.5 or older.
That being said, I've had pics of exactly 3 deer over 130. One was killed in 2006. The other two I have no idea what happened.
On average, bucks over 4.5 on my place score around 105 to 110.
Now, I'm not in Jackson co or the black belt either. I know enough people and hunted enough in Lauderdale and Colbert to know they are the same with a few exceptions of ag areas.

Down here that's a once in a lifetime kind of buck. Now if we drop that down to 110 - 115 I would say .5 to maybe one per square mile.

Having them and killing them is two entirely different things. We have one area were bigguns cross. I'd say into the 150 range. You won't find them anywhere else on the property, not to say there isn't big deer on the rest of the property. And it's rare to get them on camera.

I would say this is a big variable genetics and soil nutrients I think play a huge part .

Soil variables, habitat variables, just too hard to say.
I've hunted places that I would say had 2-3 130's per square mile and I've hunted places that have, again guessing 1 per 5 square miles.
The place I hunt in Blount county is a strange place. It probably has the best habitat I've ever hunted but I can only guess is lacking the genetics to produce them. The soil fertility and quality is not very good and that certainly plays a part but the amount of cover, undergrowth and natural food is substantial. It has a decent deer population and has the fattest deer I've ever killed, they just don't grow very large antlers. Mature deer there weigh over 200 lbs but most score 105-115.
