What do y'all think about having increased regulations on deer, such as state wide point restrictions or a tag system. Any professionals think it would happen in AL or it increase herd numbers?

I agree, but we are being liberal with our deer . I wouldn't consider it regelations. . Judt consider it managment . And don't mahe it state wide . Do it by zone, a statewide antler restriction would be fine with me .

We should be able to manage our own lands and make our own decisions without having someone's idea of QDM being forced upon the people.

We don't need more government intrusion in our lives.

Some years I might get to hunt twice all season.I want to be able to take a deer for the table without some antler restriction imposed on me by a trophy hunter.

I agree with someone who has there own land and is managing there lands , but what about the majority of people across the state. Leased timber lands for instance , where people go in and slaughter everything and move into the next lease . Seems like there could be a solution worked out that would work for everyone .

Hey, well, y'know ... tough beans. Those deer you see aren't big enough by the MatureBuck Militia's mandatory standards so you can't shoot them. Maybe in two or three years you can shoot something. Sound good? Yeah, sounds good. thumbup

I would support a tag system limiting the number of deer killed, but not any sort of antler restrictions. Each person has to decide what a trophy is to them.

I do not see the need for more Regulations. We have too many already!

However, I think that the antlerless Season is too long in most areas. And, for the few exclusive areas that need to kill more.....DMAP is still available.

There is. It's called voluntary regulation. Not mandatory.

You should try hunting certain counties in Texas. Antler restriction states inside spread must be 13 inches or greater. How many times have you been able to walk up to a buck and measure its antler spread before you shoot it? This has led to a increased number of 12 inch bucks being hauled off into the woods and left to rot.

In my neck of the woods we got problems, I got willy wack em all on both sides and coyotes running all over the place, I guess that's why I'm so frustrated with it all. I completely agree with less regulations 99% of the time, I could just go over and whack whack en all upside the head one time and tell him lay off the trigger if we didn't gave no regulations but unfortunately we do . Just look at my damn wheat, no browsing on this plot hardly at all. And my 2 acre plot that does get some browse could support a lot more mouths too .

County regulations would be incredible. Let's get those, along with antler point restrictions, width restrictions, and mandatory check in with increased fines for anyone caught with an unchecked buck or doe. Shorter seasons and no rifles, either. First, though, all 67 counties must have separate regulations. DCNR should be able to handle that easily.

RonBuck, what kind of growth did you get in your exclusion cages on those fields? More, or the same?

I am in favor of regulations for my neighbors not being able to shoot any bucks less than 205" bc typical with a one buck per lifetime limit, and me being able to shoot what I want on my place.

Why are people so hung up on Regulations?
I think we are OVER-regulated; with all the emphasis on large antlers. Hence, the basically un-restricted harvest of antlerless deer BUT a very conservative 3 buck limit with antler restricions built in?

I, and many others, simply think that the antlerless season should be cut back. Or, if you prefer Regulations, put a couple more blank spaces on a peice of paper and call it a 'Limit' for the good of the herd!
