Go get em this morning. Heading to Choccolocco. I hope to catch them feeding before this rain moves in. I saw 5 yesterday afternoon out of range. All walking the same trail. Gonna move the stand and hope they follow the same trail today.

Here in Walker county. ..sitting in the jeep waiting a few more minutes before the walk in....gonna be set up on an acorn bench on the outskirts of a greenfield. Gotta come out at 1030 because my wife informed me that tannehill moved their trick or treating time to 230 so they could hopefully beat the rain

About to ease back down here behind the house this morning and give it another go where I stuck my nanner head yesterday. Not in any hurry. I figure they'll move a little later in the morning again.

I'm in a spot I haven't hunted a year. Hardwood ridge bordered by some pines. These 5785 white oaks in here make it hard to get one in range sometimes.

I'm here, huckleberry. Set up on my little woods road. Thicket in front. Hardwoods to back. Good trail to my right (I shoot southpaw). Good luck to my buddies on the refuge hunt.

Good morning. Set up on the edge of a hardwood bottom and 4 year old clear cut.
Acorns are falling.
Also, turkeys are loud coming off their roost.

ESE @ 3 hunh??? Shish, it's been SSW @ 10. I had 3 deer walk in at 6:10, stayed in here till 6:25. Could not see them. I could pick them out with binos, think it was does. Woods have been dead since daylight. No birds or squirrels even. Saw a bachelor group of toads and several does in here yesterday.

Back at it again - my 4th hunt in 3 days. I'd consider this hunt a success if I just saw a deer this morning. Sweated like crazy getting here and the wind is swirling. I climbed high (39') to hopefully help with the scent control. If I happened to kill a buck this morning would TOTALLY be a God thing for sure.

I'm sitting on the edge of a swamp in some hardwoods. Planning to be here til 1030 or so, then headed to lunch with my smoking hot wife! grin thumbup thumbup

I'm in a huge White Oak, the wind is knocking off most any acorns left up here. No deer yet, but they were here most of the night on the cam. Mabey one will swing back through!

Something is up atmospherically. I literally have not heard or seen a squirrel even since daylight.

Had a bachelor group come through at 35 yard and stop, had they kept moving they were almost to my 22 yard lane. They stopped and were sniffing, I was downwind and over 20' up tree. The walked back and around the other side of this wash.....ugh

I heard a twig break behind me and its a coyote, I think they smelt him??
Nice 8 I have pics of, oh well....they gone
It was still nice to see some deer, after they got out of sight, I sat down and my hands were shaking.. smile Still a great rush

Were they walking across the area where you walked in? A lot of times deer will cross over you your path and booger on your scent left behind

They were still over 30 yards from where I walked in, I guess it's possible they smelt my tracks? I always dig my boots in the leaves and dirt real good to try and mask or wipe off any smell. That coyote was kinda flanking them, I really want to think that's what got me. It's a guess though. The challenge of archery, I love it!

Be safe guys, there's a rain shower coming in ahead of schedule around Birmingham around 10-11 o'clock. It's gonna stop til around 5 after that one passes. I may try to hunt this afternoon between showers.

I'm at the house. After killing the 8 point yesterday evening and my 5 year old up at midnight puking, I decided to stay in!

Thought I would repost this one more time in case anyone missed it the other day.......

This only being Otis’s second tracking year, I still need to get him on some easy finds as well as the true lost ones. He’s ready to start working those harder tracks this year but I really need to put him on 2 or 3 easy ones here up front. If anyone around me is interested, I will make you a deal. If you shoot a deer over the next week or two that you know you’ve smoked or seen crash 100 yards away…..if you’ll allow me to bring Otis out and put him on that track then I’ll come back later on and track your next true lost deer for free with no finder's fee. This is for anyone within say 50 miles of Macon Co…..I need 3 good tracks of 100-200 yards or so where you know the deer is there dead at the end. Thanks fellas. Good luck this weekend.

Sat in the stand from 6:20 till 10, even the squirrels were not moving today, guess I'll put my new sight on when the mail runs and spend the rest of the day sighting in.

Finally put it all together and got my first bow kill! A good sized doe just before 815 at 10 yards! I'll probably post a thread later when I get home. So stoked!

I don't like to bow hunt in the rain. I'm concerned about water damaging my bow in long run. It can't be good for strings & if I shoot something I'll lose the blood trail.

Well I'm gonna be hunting out of a ground blind. It's gonna be a prime day to hunt the cut corn field that I saw the 6 bucks together in earlier this week. Don't really want to hunt in the rain but my gut tells me that this is the place to be, and this is the time. We will see

Live from a plot on public land. Has a few oaks on the outside of it, dropping a few acorns. Plot is just sprouting, but there are some fresh tracks In it.

It ain't raining here. I'm gonna watch Georgia for a little bit then go sit in my chicken house and watch them on my iPad and hope a big deer walks out. It sounds silly, but it's my best big buck spot.

Good deal, nothing like that first bow kill. I just started slanging razor blades last year, and got a doe . I don't think I will gun hunt again till I'm an ole geezer . could have killed a ton this year, but I'm waiting for that first buck and I'm only wanting a goodun

Sitting on a food plot that's finally starting to come up. It's starting to rain but I've got my umbrella up so shouldn't be too big of a problem. Good luck fellas

Little drizzle here, radar looks like it'll move through pretty quick. Maybe they'll come get a bite to eat afterwards

I can't hear the activity in the woods for all the commotion at the Opelika-Auburn airport. All those AU fans getting out of town so fast it sounds like a bunch of mad hornets leaving out. Dang at the noise.

Raining pretty good below tuscaloosa. I'm in my ground blind in between a gully and a pine thicket hunting an old logging road that leads to big open hardwoods. I cant see but 17 yards but I've killed several walking this road

Sprinkled on my ride here but no rain right now, im at a spot the land owner wants them thinned out so im taking the first thing that comes in without spots on it or with it! Still trying to get my first bow kill, ive got a good feeling ab this afternoon as long as the wind will stay in my favor! Everyone stay safe and best of luck!

Back in my morning stand hoping I can squeeze in a sit before the rain comes. Kinda wish I'd fished this morning. But hunting, football and mama making soup for tonight's games ain't a bad Saturday.

How I found her this morning:

This doe and a smaller one came in at about 40 yards through the woods at 8:05 this morning. They fed around out there for a couple minutes, and this doe started heading up the hill munching, while the other came down the hill toward me then turned and followed my doe. I was a little disappointed they were heading away, but still pleased to see a couple again. Then all of a sudden, they stopped and the smaller one came toward me on a string, bringing the bigger one with her. I was calm, cool, and collected mentally performing my pre-shot checklist. They got to 10 yards, and I drew when she stepped behind some leaves, then she stepped into the opening quartering slightly away so I turned it loose. Hit her and gave a little fist pump as she ran off. I heard her stop about 50-60 yards away (couldn't see her) but she didn't crash and go down, so then all the bad thoughts from my last arrow release came rushing back. I waited over an hour and started tracking. She went over 200 yards.

Happy hunter:

Just got settled in my ground blind. I hate hunting these things but there's no suitable trees to climb and I didn't have time to hang a lock on. I feel like I'm sticking out like a sore thumb! Maybe the drizzling rain will kick on right before dark and one will show up in front of me.

I have probably killed 100 with a bow, and I still talk to myself every time.. "Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim small, pick a spot"
If I don't, I'll just get pin on deer and fling wrecklessly! LOL

Weather app showed rain so I climbed down and hoofed it to the car. It started pouring when I sat inside the car. Looks like I'm done until next weekend. I'm headed to monroeville to hunt a buddy's land.

I seent a coon. Damn thing about made me nervous. He came down the oak tree that was like 3 yards in front of me and had absolutely no fear of me. He walked around the base of my ladder stand for a minute or two...raising up on his hind legs like a bear...checking me out. I took my phone out and took a picture of him and he acted like the flash just pissed him off. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to put a muzzy in his face just out of self defense!

I had 4 small bucks under me, the only one that gave me a shot was a spike, had a cull buck getting close but spike was in the way, breeze twisted a loop opposite the wind and smaller 8 busted me and away they flew!

Didn't see a deer. I had great wind and good conditions but nada. I wish the temp would've dropped about 10 degrees before dark. I guess I'll just have to shoot one in the morning then smile

Son and I went to a WMA. I didn't take my bow was going to let him be the shooter. Pick out a food plot on Google earth we wanted to try out. Get there walk in about a half mile and there is a sign nailed to a tree that said there was a wild turkey research project going on and no hunting was allowed beyond that point. So walk back to the car. Go to another spot we like and there is orange flagging across the road. So we go to another spot and go in blind. Found a very nice oak bottom. Get set up and it starts a light rain. I decide we will tough it out. At 5 it starts thundering and lightning so we hightailed back to the car and just come on back home. After all that we only managed to see one squirrel.

But that was time well spent with your son. thumbup I'd be willing to bet that your son won't forget that you made all that effort FOR HIM. Now he probably won't tell you that, but I'll bet he doesn't forget it.

Saw a Hoss whose antlers were red just like he had just shed his velvet. To bad he was just out of range. I moved my stand I'll try him again in the next few days.
