There are legal ramifications if you shoot a dog. Shooting one will cause problems with neighbors. As a landowner, club loses lease if I find out about it. Wild dogs are an entirely different matter but shooting pets, hunting dogs is a public relations disaster for the individual, club and the hunting community in general.
Much simpler to talk with the dog owners & resolve the matter peaceably. When you turn around to find a pitbull trailing you out to your stand and the nearest neighbor is over a mile away, talking with the owner (if they even are the owner) is not an option.
