Kinda new to bow hunting. I need a new release. Suggestions? I think I like the non-wrist strap type releases. The kind you hold in your hand but all I've ever shot were the wrist buckle type.

Most folks hunt with a hand-held or the wrist-buckle type?

I hunt with a wrist-buckle. I use the Scott Mongoose. IMO its the best release there is for hunting. I have two and one of them is about 10 yo. Ive had no trouble from either of them.

I use a Scott wildcat. How do you know you like handheld better if you've never shot one??? It changes your knocking point. Back tension would be a nightmare hunting. That leaves you with a thumb release. I can't stand a thumb release. Go shoot one at the store and see if you like it.

Tru Fire Hardcore

I use wrist type and shoot an older trufire release. Have two of the same in case one fails. Never had a problem with a release. Some people swear by the other type of release. Try them both and see which you like better. It is all personal preference and what you are comfortable with.

I use the Scott Silverhorn and the Scott Wildcat. I ditched the Scott straps and use the TruGlo Boa straps.

i use a pro diamond thumb release. i don't like wrist style releases...

Ive got a tru fire edge 4 finger. Love it. Never was a big fan of the wrist style release
