1. Africa (y'all that like it, glad for ya - just not for me. And for the record, I can't fathom why anyone would ever want to shoot a giraffe). 2. Bear hunt over stale donuts - again, to me it just doesn't seem right. I think stalk hunting would be intense. 3. Saw a Jim Shockey hunt up in the Artic Circle once. To hell with that.

Archery Elk in Northern Arizona.
I say that hoping Murphy's law will kick in and the next big opportunity to hunt the west is this. My brother is there as I type hunting the Big Boquillas Ranch.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I've been trying to put into words what I don't like about bear hunting, but I'm not sure how to precisely say it. For some reason it just seems cruel when I watch the videos. I don't want that to sound like a PETA response, Lord knows I'm the opposite of that. I don't consider bears (or cougars) to be dense in population. Heck, I don't know how to explain it.

Most of y'all have referenced bears but are only talking about black bears. There just happens to be 4 species or bears in North America. My least favorite to hunt them is over bait. That being said, it is still very exciting. I could compare that to sitting in a shooting house over a food plot waiting on a whitetail but that would hurt some folks feelings. And for the record, bears and cougars are very high in concentration for the specie in most places that they are hunted. In fact, cougars are a problem in some areas. To each his own.

I know of black and brown that live in the lower 48. I have nothing against a black or brown stalk while staying on a boat and eating crabs and lobster though. To each his own.

Coons. I absolutely hate to hear those dogs bark. I really don't understand the dislike for Africa. I'm going in August 2017 and cant hardly wait!! I'm the opposite. Love to hear a good race and have no interest in hunting a striped horse. Cant trust a man that doesnt like hear a pack of hounds strike up on a cold clear night
We will burn that bridge when we get there

To date, I've shot 44 African species and the toughest, excluding waiting on a leopard to cooperate for 14 days, by far has been the two species of zebra I've hunted. I talked to guy with a show on sportsman channel, the chase, and he said that zebra and giraffe were some of the most difficult species to kill.

I'd read an article that mentioned California went from making money from license sales for cougars to loosing a million a year on professional hunters keeping the cats in check. This was around the time California banned cougar hunting.

There are technically 5 species of bear in North America.
Interior black bear Coastal black bear Brown bear Grizzly bear Polar bear
Blong,
There is a lot more polar bears now than 10 years ago.
Colet,
As I mentioned, zebra have been some of the toughest to hunt from my limited experience. Giraffe is one of the toughest animals on the planet.
Carter,
You are correct. Cali has lost millions in revenue since they banned cougar hunting. Also, attacks have sky rocketed since the ban.

And Blong, if not for hunters dollars, polar bear would really be in jeapordy today.
As I've said many times before, I'm convinced we have antis amongst us.

As I've said many times before, I'm convinced we have antis amongst us. I assure you I'm not anti hunting. I am anti 'I'm gonna kill it just because I have the means and then put the trophies in my vaulted game room so I can brag to visitors while I drink my single malt scotch and pat myself on the back' though. I know several around here that do just that. I'm not impressed. What impresses me are the guys that kill turkeys on the national forest here year in and out. Jmo

I do have a trophy room with prolly close to a hunnerd "trophies" hanging in it. I don't have visitors, I hate Scotch, and my arthritis is so bad my arm won't reach my back........oh, and I cut my teeth on public land WMA turkeys.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
