Just to clear things up, he isn't "my" pastor. He is a friend of mine that is a pastor. My understanding is the guy used his own card but put in the pastor's name and mailing address.
Being in the processing business I can tell you that isn't likely. Not impossible but unlikely. The address verification system will decline transactions that have a different name , address or zip code for the user and owner. The only exception is when the AVS is turned off or there is am option to enter a different billing address. Even then, it won't usually approve with a different name than what's on the card.
Don't several places of business just use the card's billing zip code now instead of the full address? I know several gas stations and over the phone transactions only ask for zip code.
On ecommerce (website) transactions it at least is matching the name and zip. At a gas station it might only ask for zip.
