Close, as others drop out Trump won't gain their supporters, hopefully Cruz will. Trump will talk his way out of the nomination.

It doesn't look like he can be stopped. People are fed up with the status quo and due to Trump's charisma and celebrity status he has a lot of people backing him. Doesn't look like they care so much about his past just that with him they have a chance to stick to establishment and the media. I also think most people actually think he will do a better job than the one we got up there now which shouldn't be hard. I am still backing Carson but at this point looks like it might have to be a Trump / Carson ticket...

The latest poll actually has Trump polling above 30% now.....this train seems to be picking up steam

The general public voted in Obama twice and that is the reason I don't doubt it possible they will vote trump in now. A lot of people don't vote on issues but on the cool factor and Trump has that celebrity status. I am not saying this a supporter but as an observer of what's happening.

I think Skinny is right. The polls don't mean a whole lot until January. Herman Cain led at one point in 2012. Ron Paul won straw polls in 2012. Rick Perry had a good bit of support in 2012. None of them were a real factor come primary season. I'll give credit to Trump, he is holding better in the polls than any of those guys were 3 years ago.. Then again this election cycle is very atypical. There hasn't been a single primary with 16 candidates involved at any point in history that I am aware of. Ultimately I believe Trump will be his own worst enemy come January. Once the fringe candidates start dropping out there will be an alignment of voters to someone else's campaign. I can't say who, but I hope it narrows down to Cruz vs. the establishment.. I still like Rand, but Ted seems the more electable between the two. Trump has the tough rhetoric which I do like, but I don't see the substance he brings to the table.. Immigration is one singular issue and not a fix all for our country. Limiting the federal government is a whole lot more important if we wish to right the ship. Trump and many others in the GOP don't mention limited government at all. The executive branch is to powerful. Decreasing that power and returning many functions of the federal government to the states will begin to move us in the right direction. I don't see Trump doing that, nor do I see Jeb, Rubio, Walker, Kasich, or any other establishment candidate doing so. If we truly want to limit the federal government then it will take a president that will take that power away from himself.

Yup, he drew a crowd of 18k (+/-) on the first Friday night of high school football in Alabama. Name anyone else who can do that.

Expected crowds were 30k so I'd say that was a little underwhelming

I would think that the people who were so concerned with planned Parenthood would still be concerned with planned Parenthood instead of abandoning that issue once Trump said he wanted to continue their funding.

To be truthful, he has had several more businesses that were profitable than were losers. He just knew how to work the system to his advantage. Just like many politicians.

If that is the only reason you can find to not vote for him it's pretty weak. The man has had dozens, if not hundreds of businesses in his lifetime and from what I have heard ,TWO of them went bankrupt. I ain't as high on Trump as some but that dog won't hunt.

I think you are right. People are emotional and they are throwing their support based on that emotion. I hold out hope that logic will prevail.

My take. It's fueled mostly by the anti big ears population, which is huge.

Again, I have my doubts that he'll be in the running this time next year, but tonight he threw out some pretty strong talk about trade, tariffs and punitive taxes for companies that outsource jobs, it's gonna be interesting to see if any of the mainstream republicans hop on THAT train!
