It's a tie between tpdf (guessed 113) and David Ellis (guessed 112)! The official composite score is 112 4/8. Congrats to the two of you on some darn good guesses. thumbup I'll have straycat get with you about that meal - just sit next to your phones and wait for his call! grin

Can someone school me on why it's 112 4/8 instead of 112 /12?

Antler measurements are in 1/8 increments. They usually say 2/8 , 4/8, 6/8 . It's just antler measurement speak.

When I measure one I convert to decimal, that being 1/8 = .125, 2/8 = .250 and so on. Makes it super easy on the calculator at the end.

Yes and no. They go by gross, minus spread. But they have a percentage going on that determines if it's regular ( typ) or irregular ( non- typ).

I think I've got that right. I do like that it doesn't include air, just antler growth.

Interesting. So If a buck had 100" of bone on his head, and a 15" spread, he would score less, than a buck with the same rack but a 12" spread??

If I'm following yer question , they'd be the same 100" BTR ( Buckmasters). But BnC /PnY one would be 115" and one 112".

Gotcha, I was confused when you said subtract the spread. That really surprises me that buck scored what it did without an inside spread added to it.

Atoler,

I was very pleasantly surprised as well when I walked up to the scoring table. And, a buddy of mine had also brought a deer and was telling the scorers to make sure his buck scored 1 point more than mine. We both walked up to the table together and saw that my buck outscored his by 1 6/8"!!! grin Needless to say, he received an appropriate ammount of hell for his earlier comments! grin

The mass measurements for the left side sure look like they should be more than the right but the sheet says different.
