I have to admit, when I'm shooting at a nice buck, I don't remember consciously aiming that small. I pretty much just center it up toward the front half of the body and BANG!!! However, I have this little routine with a bow where I talk to myself as it's about to happen. I tell myself, "Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim..." I want my pin in the fold of the shoulder, roughly center of body or lower. I have to make myself slow down and consciously AIM at a small spot. Just pokin' a hole through one isn't good enough.

My limited experience, hunted 2 seasons so far ... O-P is where I've always aimed and it works well. I'm still working on my first bow kill but I'll aim at the same place
#1 was DRT boom-flop ... didn't even twitch (30-06, 165g SST) #2 fell in tracks and passed within 2 mins (30-06, 165g SST) #3 ran into a thicket and fell 30 yards away (30-06, 165g SST) #4 fell in tracks and passed within 10 seconds (308, 150g Barnes TTSX) #5 was a frontal shot into O-P, ran 70 yards(308, 150g Barnes TTSX) #6 fell in tracks, DRT(308, 150g Barnes TTSX)

O-P
100% of deer die without lungs.
Most have been DRT, some make it 20- 40 yards, all have died.
I agree.. If we running with dogs and buckshot.. I'm aiming for A, and that will put me around O when it gets there..

I quit shooting deer behind the shoulder with a rifle when I shot a 120lb doe that ran 200+- yards across a bean field and piled up in a creek. There were pieces of lungs and bone laying in the field where I hit her.
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I vote in-between O & P with a bow or a gun as long as the deer is standing like he is in the pic.

I would aim at the bottom of W-X with bow. If he ducks I'll hit high if not I'll shoot his heart out. With a gun I aim between O-P.
