I think packing it in and hanging it right before you hunt would be tough. A safety harness with linemans belt would be a necessity to allow both hands free to pull the stand up or pull it off your back and drop the stand into the bracket. Then you still have to pull up your rifle or bow.
I always add a ratchet strap to the foot platform to make it nice and steady. I have found just dropping the stand into the bracket leaves the platform a little too wobbly for my taste.
I use a lineman's belt at the top of my sticks to attach to the tree... and hang the stand that way when I pack one in. I have a cam-buckle strap that I use around it rather than a ratchet strap. Never had issues with it being wobbly with that set.
