Be warned you are about to go down a path from which there is no return. lol It's a good thing though.
I started reloading in the late eighties and like a bad drug habit have never been able to shake it. Put it down for awhile but always kept going back for more. Guess you could say I'm a full blown addict now as I load way more than I shoot.

As you progress with your reloading process you may want to look in to = Hornady Lock-N-Load Compartor Basic Set. Comes with 6 inserts fo most popular clibers. Seating to the Ojive is MUCH more accurate that OAL measurements. Bullets will very from lot to lot and bullet to bullets . BUT your ojive measurement will always be the same Had a buddy that helped me and we did that using his. That is where the 2.80 measurement came from. Touched the lands and backed off a bit. 2.765 was recommended coal You didnt measure the ojive, just the OAL. Measuring the ojive is a much better method. HERE is an example. I have a custom 223 bolt action rifle. I shoot 80-Amaxs. THE ojive measurement is 2.055. THE OAL is 2.585 . You could have 2 different bullets, loaded in a caliber = 223 AND Both have a 2.585 OAL BUT have different ojives. Hornady 80-AMAXs have a .630 base to ojive as a bullet. Berger 80s have a .560 base to ojive as a bullet.

I think I understand after re reading your post. The ogive is where the bullet gets to max diameter. Some bullets get to max diameter faster and some have a little nger "nose".
That what you mean? Gasp!!!! The "N" word. --"Nger nose"

If you go with the Hornady set keep in mind if you ever measure with the Sinclair set they will be different. WHY? I have Sinclair comps as well. Never noticed a difference. IF you zero out the caliper IT HAS to be the same ojive. UNLESS you are talking about the = Compensator lenght??

The comparators are the same it's the bump gauges I was talking about.. One actually says it measures on a different area and if you have both sets you will see that difference.

Well, how good they shoot? I'm getting ready to reload 7mm08 as well. Still haven't had a chance to shoot them. Gonna try and go next weekend
