I don't see a lot of people posting on here about the '06. I have one a BAR my wife bought for me 35 years ago for first anniversary. I put it in the safe and never hardly shot it. I have a lot of different calibers, 6.5 swede, 280, 7 mag, 300 Weatherby Mag. I took the '06 out last year and checked sight in on it and killed 2 deer with, dropped in there tracks, anymore fans on this cartridge on here think Ill be using it more.

I have a Browning A-Bolt in 30-06 Springfield. IMO the 30-06 is one of the best calibers ever invented.

I also have a BAR in 06' that has killed more deer than I will ever remember. I put it in the safe and plan on handing it down to my first grandson. I now shoot a 270 and love that caliber.

I have two, rarely hunt with either anymore, but have killed quite a few deer with them. I think people don't talk about them as much as others is because everyone knows about the 06 and it's not new and flashy.

I've got a stainless Ruger M77 Mark II in 30-06 with a Zeiss Conquest. I put the whole rig on layaway when I was 21 and that was 20 years ago. It always drops 'em, the furthest being 330 yards. I've kicked around the idea of getting another rifle but then I think why, how could I get something better?

Right on with everything that has been said.

Its a caliber that needs no introduction. No fluff required.
It flat out kills deer & hogs with authority and everyone knows it.

I also have a .30-06 BAR that I love. I did the trigger work on it myself - the stock triggers are absolutely terrible...
Mines the discontinued wood stock Lightweight model. I have Zeiss Diavari Z 1.5-6x42mm on top in Talley Lightweights.

haleyville al,
Mine Remington 700lh. My parents gave it to me when I was 14. I had to use a 7-08 for a little while due a shoulder issue. But im back to my 30-06.

I own a browning bar 30/06, and love it. I just put a kahles 2.5x10x50 on top of it. I purchased 8 years ago and have killed several deer with it. I wouldn't trade that rifle for a new one just like it.

I have a Ruger M77 and a Savage 110C in 30:06. Why shoot anything else. I reload my own bullets as well. Are those Barnes bullets I saw on a previous post? I reload Nosler & Hornady.

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

It is the best all around caliber ever. 109 years old and still going strong.

I would confidently take my 06 to shoot anything on the North American continent except the big bears.

She's a fan! Husqvarna 30-06. It was her daddy's rifle and she got it when he passed away. 1 shot kills on both this past season! Federal Fusion 150 gr. reduced recoil bullets.

I agree with everyone, it's a great caliber. Using Barnes 165 TTSX I can group under 5" at 400 yds out of my autoloader.

I'm blessed to have dozens of different guns in almost every caliber they make. .17 up to 50 caliber Barrett. 30.06 is the gun I hunt with.

Big fan on the 30-06. I use my Steyr chambered in 30-06 on most deer rifle hunts. Have never lost a deer I shot with it.

My go to rifle as well. I have a 1968 Remington 700 BDL That I would not give up for anything. With 150 gr. coreloct's, it is game over. Love this rifle.
