Here's the deal....my 40th birthday is this Friday. My bride is wanting to get me something special but obviously needs my help since I have mentioned perhaps going on a hunt somewhere a few times. I have thought about this pretty hard. Every year, me and BrentM (and other pals) kick around the idea of going out west but we always get hung up on the fact that we can hunt in Tennessee all the way until May 17th this year for example. However, March ALWAYS FREAKIN SUX for me way up here. Especially the first week of season. It's still winter up here then and I never have any luck getting around turkeys that act halfway right.

With all of that said, I would like to try and get a turkey or two killed before the freaking calendar hits April. I'm thinking about maybe an Osceola hunt or maybe even a jam up eastern hunt in South Bama or north Florida. If I had a choice, I would obviously choose an Osceola hunt but I really don't want to have her spend what a typical Osceola hunt costs. Any chance any of you have a good land hookup and perhaps the "JUGHEAD birthday fund" could pay for our lodging, licenses, etc.?

Like I said, I would be tickled with a good eastern hunt too though I would certainly be picky on that front. I would want good food, lodging, and not be forced to sit and look at decoys. Would prefer to not be guided at all if possible.

I'm open to any and all ideas. Just brainstorming. Doesn't necessarily have to be "booked" this week, but I would like to make a decision on what I'm going to do though if possible.

This guys clearly done lost his mind. I'd advise anyone considering to help him out to pretend you never saw this. Hes too scared to get his minivan further than 50 miles from the house. That's the real truth to it.

No he didn't! I hear them Osceolas will throw up on you when you pick them up? Gotta be worth it though!

Keep in mind....it doesn't have to be an Osceola. Slam, scham as far as I'm concerned. I just want turkeys that will most likely gobble. And for it to not be 15 degrees with ice and snow on the ground.

What about a South Zone Texas hunt for Rios? I had looked at it because it is the only place we could go during my little killers last week of March spring break.

It was March 21, this year. I think I read it opens the Saturday closest to March 18th, so it should March 19, 2016.

Hard to tell if you are serious with all your friends busting your chops but i have extended an invitation to BrentM to come to PA for many years now. Can hunt public land (Allegheny National Forest) or private farm land. So get with him and road trip it. But be prepared for a 1 bird limit and no Sunday hunting state. On the other hand The farms around the house are target rich. heard 9 different birds gobble this morning and 7 different ones gobble Saturday morning. Got several places that. And the guide and lodging fee can't be beat. Season runs til end of May.

People have more fun than anybody.
