Thanks for the info.

I'm going to stay kind of close to home. Probably around North Alabama.

Some great places to do some tent camping in North Alabama.

Sipsey Wilderness: Multiple great spots, with several along various creeks. Short walks to long hikes available.

Walls of Jericho: Forever Wild tract. Steep hike in and out (2 miles or so), but well worth the effort. You can camp at the meadow where the streams intersect or camp at the rock "amphitheater" when the water is low in summer.

Other Forever Wild tracts: Several allow for tent camping. The Sipsey Sullivan tract is on the water.

I don't want to pass quietly into the night. I want to slide in sideways kickin and screamin
Life really is awesome ... Soak it up while you can ...

Paul,

Tell me more about Savage Gulf. Good place for a 2-3 day backcountry trip with my boys? Any fish in the valley streams?

You're in Blount County.
Take a half mile hike below Swann Bridge in either direction.
Fish tight line for catfish.
It's fun and the are sand beaches to camp.
If you try to drive the trail roads, you will need at least a 4 wheel.... but like I said... a half mile hike, isn't that far.
