In 2013 a Private bakery in Oregon owned by Christians refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple based on their religious beliefs. At the time, Oregon did not recognize gay marriage. Caused a big stink. Several months later a Federal Judge ruled the Oregon law defining marriage was unconstitutional, paving the way for gay marriage in that state.

Lesbians sued and case went to Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. On Monday the Bureau ruled that the bakery violated anti-discrimination laws and could possibly receive a $150,00 fine.

Their quote: "Oregonians may not be denied service based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The law provides an exemption for religious organizations and schools, but does not allow private businesses to discriminate based on sexual orientation."

But I thought private businesses wouldn't have any issues? Yes, that was sarcastic. As soon as sexual orientation is a protected class, even private businesses are required to offer services, unless specifically exempted. That one reason why opposing the gay marriage issue is important, not to mention

It also happened to a Colorado bakery. I could be wrong, but it seems like I read somewhere that these decisions were dependent on your state laws. People cheering the latest gay wedding victory need to realize there is more to their agenda than simply having the same rights as everyone else. The owners of both of these bakeries found out their rights were inferior to someone else's rights.

Apparently our courthouse has now refused to marry anyone. Straight or crooked.

But private businesses get to make their own decisions and can't be forced to serve someone against their beliefs, right? They want forced acceptance.

Apparently not in some states. Maybe not on the federal level. I'm sure Doekiller could tell us.
In my opinion, a business should be able to serve or not serve whoever they want. If it ruffles someones feathers, then they vote with their wallet. Ruffle enough feathers, you'll be out of business. That may be illegal, though, I don't know.

Okay, I changed the wording on the Google search, and federal law prohibits a business from not serving someone in a federally protected class under the Civil Rights Act.
Some state laws are stricter and include other classes.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens when Muslims refuse to make a cake. The Dem party might explode.

The direction this country is headed, muslims will be a protected class before too long.

It's not illegal. When I was in the publishing business I refused some types of advertisements just because I chose to. The gay marriage issue is an agenda that supercedes law or others rights.

Sad times we live in. Afraid our kids and grand kids will see some bad times.
