with all the storms and power outages in north alabama work had been cancelled and we have no power and that's not fun with a 4 month old, so we head to my wifes families place for awhile in Tennessee .. We get up here thursday and I go tear out hunting and get setup immediately on some birds in a pasture. After about an hour and some light calling I called up 3 gobblers,2 jakes and 3 hens. One of the gobblers trys to play lover boy and gets shot about 5pm...  after an uneventful friday, I saw some birds right at dark heading to roost so I get up early this morning and get to where I think they are and by golly I was right where they gobbled 60 yards from me. I do some light tree yelps and boom 4 gobblers sound off,they almost blew my hat off!!! I put my calls down and got my gun up and 5 minutes later they flew in my lap not 7 steps away. The.first one was.a.decent bird but the second was a stud. He landed and I got my gun on him boom, I flipping missed at 7 steps and the.bird flew off so I swung on the.other one and rolled him... this completes my first limit ever and this bird had 2 beards..Good Lord has blessed.me with a great year..
