I need consensus to whether this is a fatal shot or not. The buck was shot with a sabot slug at 100 yards broadside. After shot he ran 30 yards into the middle of the field. He began feeding. But he was walking with a noticeable limp on his front shoulder where impact took place. Unsure if the follow-up shots hit the buck because he did not seem affected by them. He was limping and I have about a 40 yard blood trail that leads into some heavy briars. I've peaked around the briars and I do not see him. It's possible he he's moved on to the next patch of heavy briars. This happened around 7 AM today.
A tracking dog is not an option. I'm going back into the woods in a little bit after giving him some more time.
The blood trail is light. Wow!
