If you want a Lever Gun just because you like Lever Guns for deer hunting.... I fall into this category myself...
BLR Lightweight in 7mm-08 is a pretty darn strong choice.
I hunt with one in .358 all the time. It is a stainless laminated gun... so all weather. My favorite rifle for just general use.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Get the blr lightweight. Only weighs 6 1/2 lbs with 20" barrel. That gun in 7mm 08 would be a great hunting rifle. Have this exact gun dialed it in and put 3 in a dime size hole at 100 yards. A guy was there at the range looking at my gun and said he was thinking about this gun because he was left handed. So I let him shoot it after his shot he said thank you I am going to buy one today.
