Well, some of you may have read my post on the golf cart battery post melting. Golf Cart

If not, to make it simple, I had to clean and replace the lugs on the wires running to one of the battery post on the golf cart. I replaced 2 of the 3 lugs, and only cleaned the one I didn't replace, thinking I would do it at a later time.

Well, that later time came the second time I took the golf cart out. It caused a lot more trouble than if I had just gone ahead and replaced it the first time. I already knew this, and have leaned more than once, the old saying, which leads to the title, "Do it Right the First time."

In Colossians 3:23-24 (NLV), we find basically the same principle:

23 Whatever work you do, do it with all your heart. Do it for the Lord and not for men. 24 Remember that you will get your reward from the Lord. He will give you what you should receive. You are working for the Lord Christ.

God's Word tells us, regardless of the work, ANY work we do, do it with ALL your heart. Put everything you have in it. It doesn't matter if you like the work, if it is work for someone else, work for yourself, paid work, work without pay, or a job and work in which you don't plan on being there the next day.

How many times have we done something, like the golf cart, and not done it right the first time, and it has come back to bite us in the rear? How many times has the Holy Spirit convicted us, prodded us, nudged us to do something, and not only have we not done it correctly, but often we don't do it at all?

As followers of Christ, verse 24 puts us in our place. "(We) are working for the Lord Christ."



Father God,

How awesome You are!! You are our Creator, our King, our Lord! Forgive us of when we suppress the Holy Spirit, and we do things halfway. Help us to remember we are Your children, and we are to follow You, Your Word, and the prompting from the Holy Spirit.

Let our ways be Your ways, and may we do all things full- heartedly, even when we are tired, and weary. Give us guidance from the Holy Spirit, and let our talk match our walk. Help us to remember the lessons learned, apply them, and not fall back to sin and our selfishness.

Be with those who are hurting, whether it be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. Touch each one, and heal the hurts, as we will give You the glory and honor You so well deserve.

For it is in the name of our Savior, our Redeemer, our Giver of Life Jesus Christ, we ask and pray these things, Amen!!
