Institute a $250 recovery fee to be paid by the dog owner to the property owner for every time a dog is caught.

Then the dog owner will have incentive to handle his business and the land owner will have an incentive to spare the dogs life, and be compensated for a ruined hunt. Dog is impounded until the fee is paid.

If my damn nephew was running through somebodys house without permission, I would EXPECT somebody to shoot at him! Good lord, this ain't algebra. No dog on my land = I don't shoot at dog. The dog owner has 100% control of this.

They put there hard work, time and money into these dogs 24/7 356 not just during Hunting season... And they look at them as there kids...Im talking about old men that will tell you that they done live there life and wouldn't mine doing the rest of it in prison because they don't got much more to live for other than there dog ..

All im saying is that shooting a mans dog is not only sorry. It isn't a smart idea either!!

and it dont matter what kind of problems you think the man has.... just might be another reason NOT to shoot his dog... Right?

So what do they do with the dogs the other nine days?

It's the same schiteaters as always talking about how they gonna shoot somebody's dog. If you will look back over the last several years you will see.
I don't understand them either. Must be the way they was raised. Grew up in the city, probably in an apartment, and just hated dogs all their lives. They don't an never will get it. Pity them.

If folks controlled their dogs, there wouln't be any dogs to shoot. I don't understand why somebody would have a dog and not care what it did. Must have grown up in trailer with Milwaukees Best cans and junk cars in the yard and just not give a schit about anybody but themselves. They don't an never will get it. Pity them.

Daniel White,

If there were more dog hunters like you the sport of dog hunting would be around forever. Unfortunately you are in the minority and I figure it will all be outlawed before it's all said and done.

Agreed. DW has changed the way I think about dog hunters. I wish there were more like him.

dang looks like i missed a good one. But anyways, dogs dont run off every deer in the woods. Otherwise dog hunting wouldnt last but about two weeks. WMA wouldnt have a single deer left after the dog hunts. Should you shoot the dogs? Thats up to you, and you only. I would try other tactics first. If that dont work. Then a mans got to do, what a mans gotta do. You'd be suprised how effective warning shots are. My neighbors dog and about six others came in my yard one morning and attacked my dog. Now when he see's me (not on property ) he goes back home. If they continue to be a problem, Shooters has some spray that will take care of the problem.

No they don't. In fact I had 9 dogs run through a field I was watching a week or so back and 10 minutes later a spike came in the field and fed for an hour.

Any deer they do run off will return.... this is true. Think of it from the other guys perspective. He's busy and works 6 days a week. He has family obligations and works 10 - 12 hours a day. He waits all week to go hunting the only day he gets off, and when he gets to the woods there are stray dogs running everywhere. I don't say that to advocate shooting them, just a retort to the "Aw shucks they will be back the next day" crowd. I'm sure that guy could give a hairy rats ass if they are back the next day if he's stuck at work waiting on his next hunting day.

Few years back I would take the dogs way off into town and drop them off at car wash without collars. Hard to get them to come to you. This became too much hassle as I would rather just build a pen for the owners myself. The next year 7 shots from my 30-30 rang out, and my hunting was very different the next year from the previous 17 years on this same property. The next year seen one dog all year and my sitings and hunting was back to normal. There is several this year I suspect will meet their fate come squirrel season! Tresspasers and Dog owners just dont care about what you think, just like I dont care how many dogs they get!!! They wont permently run off deer native to the property but I feel they will run off a mature deer visiting my doe heard.

How much time and money can be put into a 50 acre hunting spot? If you and your wife are hunting it that often, it's quite easy to see why you're seeing no deer.

It could be a large time and money investment if he's the only one working on it and/or if it's not local to where he lives. I've got 40 local, no help, and only 2 days a week to work it. The work never ends.

No, I cat farm part of mine. Any time I see a damn deer trespassing I kill hell out of it. Can't have those worthless no-good deer getting my cat herd all worked up.
