By yalls logic Washington and Choctaw county shouldn't have a single deer left since dogs run deer off their home First thing is I'd never shoot somebody's dog unless it was a put it out of it's misery type thing. I agree that the deer aren't gone forever when the dogs come thru also. That being said some folks spend a lot of time and effort trying to kill a certain deer. That may involve staying out of an area all season and slipping in downwind of a doe bedding area to catch that deer on his feet checking does. It sucks when you do all that and a pack of dogs come thru after daylight and every deer in the area goes bailing off the side of the mtn. I see or hear house dogs running deer on a daily basis miles from the nearest house. Some folks enjoy a quite one on one hunt with a buck as much as others love to run them with hounds.

I agree with this 100%..I just don't know why people don't SSS.. As bad as I hate to say it, just do that and no fussing will go on.. I mean don't tell anyone.. I don't agree with it, but if your gonna shoot at a dog just keep quite about it.. That's the best thing you can do, especially on the Internet.

So basically yall are telling me that I was wrong for shooting at a dog? If so then tell me what you would've done if you were sitting in the stand and had dogs running all around you for about the third or fourth time this year. It's just really aggrivating when I've put all this time and money into trying to kill a couple nice bucks I have on camera and I don't get to go all the time like I would like to and then when I do get to go all I see is dogs running around.

Oh I don't know, Catch the dog and check its collar for a name and contact the owner. If no name on collar make the dog leave. If no collar do what you want but don't get on the internet confessing to "illegal activities". I don't deer hunt with dogs but I give deer hunters and dog owners for that matter the same respect that I would hope they would give me with my deer hunting, house dog, or my hog dogs.

Well I apologize if I upset anyone for posting it because that was not my intentions. As far as being illegal goes I can't say for sure on that because I don't know what the law says in Florida where I hunt. So does everyone pretty much agree that it's best to just let dogs run on by and it doesn't affect the deer any? By the way I forgot to mention that none of these dogs had collars on.

The only advice I can offer you is to spend more time at the range.
And kill every dog you see.

Tell the neighbors you are actively trapping yotes and to keep their dogs up. If they care bout the dogs they'll put them up if not do what you have to. If they cared about the dogs they wouldn't let them run loose all over hunting land. One dog doesn't bother me too much. Two or more will suffer for their owners irresponsibility.

You were wrong for bragging about in on the internet. I would bet more than half the people on this board shoot "wild" dogs. I would never ever shoot a collared dog or even one with out a collar if it's looks like a well taken care of house pet that just got loose. Now a pack of mutts that are skin and bones and missing eyes, and tails, and stuff, and are afraid of humans , and have been running deer for months/years on my farm, that's a differnt story

Stray dogs, IMO, can keep deer run off to some extent. Hunting dogs, that simply run a deer or rabbit thru a property, doesn't. Stray dogs cover damn near every inch of a property, whereas hunting dogs don't. Stray dogs are on a property everyday, hunting dogs are not. Shooting a dog, or at one, is one thing, but when you feel the need to tell everyone on a public forum, well, lets just say i don't get that.
