Somewhere on a bluff in the skyline are when I was a kid.The temp at the base of the mountain was normal winter temp when my dad let me get out to pee that morning. When we got to the top there was a powerline that we had to drive across and it was covered with ice and snow.I was miserable that day.I did get to see seven does that I honestly believe had never seen or encountered a human. They walked right up to within ten feet of my dad and me and looked us over real good then just walked away.No white flags and no snorting stomping or blowing.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life;of whom shall I be afraid?

Woodville in Jackson County in early 80s. Really didn't have the clothes we have now. Old cotton long johns. Cheap m65 field jacket that was already worn out when I got it. Pick-n-Pay boots. I think it got down to 7. My water bottle froze and busted (I think it was a Mason jar). I spit on a tree trunk. It froze in minutes. My feet felt like 2 blocks of wood when I walked out after dark. And we hunted all day with just a short break for lunch. And I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Did lots of cold weather camping and hunting then too. Didn't have cell phones and video games. We were country kids and it rocked. I remember skating on a frozen pond (we called it skating, really just sliding around on ice on our feet) and breaking through and nearly freezing to death too. Clothes had already froze by time my buddy got me to his house and got me in hot shower.

It's been 0 here several times. Seems like in winter of 00-01 we had 4 or 5 mornings that winter at or near 0 degrees. I had a thermometer on my back porch and it read 0 several mornings.
The coldest I've ever been in my life was on Lake Guntersville one morning around 90-91. It was the last time I remember the lake freezing over. I was duck hunting by myself the morning that all started. I had waded into an area and took a dove stool with me. I was sitting in the water, under a tree limb. The wind was howling. I sat there for hours and watched 1000's of Shovelers drop out of the sky into the main river channel. When I got ready to go, my cordura waders were frozen. I could barely get stood up. They were frozen stiff. What we did to those ducks during that freeze has bothered me every since. They did take to the free flowing waters up in the creeks if I remember right.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
