Just remember the higher the returns, the more risk usually. Markets don't always go up. If you have the time to watch it you can usually hedge your accounts or transfer them to bond funds before the market downslide.....but you have to watch it close....

I'm clueless when it comes to investing. I've tried to educate myself via the internet but I lose patience quick with it. I started out balanced pretty well and tried to play it safe. My step dad is a smart money man and I trust his judgement. He told me that since I was young he would invest high risk high yield and gradually over the years move to the safe more secure side. He told me I could take a hit now and gain it back, but later in life it is much tougher. That is my plan and it's all I have based mine off of. I dropped the slow rate of return stuff and went with high yield after a couple years and haven't looked back. I rarely check it, maybe a couple times a year so it always seems to be doing well.

I let our Investments guy handle it completely, he knows it better than I do and does a better job then I think I would do if I handled it 100 %.

There is an equation for investing from finance 101..... 100- (your age)= the amount of aggression you should invest in.... In other words.... If your 40..... 100-40=60.... Which means 60% of your investments should be in the high risk category.... The older you get....the less risk you should take due to the fact you have less time to make it up if you take a major hit....... If you choose to be risky....it can pay off.... It's just like gambling.....

That's pretty well the same route I've planned with mine. At 26 years old with no wife or kids, I feel I can handle high risks.

I need to look cause I try to roll mine over to stable when it goes this high, and then back to aggressive when it gets low again.

I checked mine a few days ago and it's running about 8%. It would have been better but one of my investments pulled it down pretty bad.

6.29% on one 8.46% on an old one I rolled to an account at Merrill Lynch
All you guys with 10%+ should consider cashing out and getting a little safer before the peak hits or you will be looking at performance for the year much less than us conservative investors
BTW If I was 15 years younger I'd be a whole lot more aggressive right now
