or maybe, just don't shoot a dog for walking on your hunting land.

Or maybe don't lease or not expect hunting land in residential area's not to have the occasional collared dog.

Don't think that I would shoot a dog if it walked through my hunting lease but I won't Blame someone else for doing so. If you have your dog running loose, YOU ARE AN IRRESPONSIBILE PET OWNER AND IT IS YOUR FAULT!

Why would it not Fred??? Besides how do you even know it's a pet if it is running loose?

Ok lets go back to the original OP... Thats how it's a pet. Takes a mean tuff dude to shoot a dog out of a tree stand for no good reason..

I fail to understand why you think because a dog is on your deer hunting land you have the right to kill it. It is illegal.

So somehow you know that the shooter knew it was a pet?

Illegal for what reason? I'm not about shooting stray dogs. We had a dog come onto our lease last year that actually looked pretty bad. We kept him around for a while and fed him until he took off again. My issue is people should respect other people's land (leased or owned) and not encroach on that by trespassing or allowing their animals to roam free on it. It's all about respect.

I have yet to see a coyote with a collar.

Having a collar doesn't guarantee anything! I had a dog just the other day hanging out at the gate to my property. He looked terrible. In fact, he probably would have been better off if I had shot him. If anyone wants pics of this dog, i'll be glad to email them.

that made no sense.

I keep my dogs on my property. Usually kenneled, or in the house.

I don't shoot collared dogs just for walking on a place I hunt.

If you shoot my dog just for crossing the line we are going to blows pretty fast till one of us can't stand. Period.

Myself and the guys I hunt with would never shoot a dog with a collar or one that shows no intent to hurt someone. Real men dont shoot dogs just because they crossed onto your hunting land strolling along.

Fred, it makes sense because you apparently have no problem with your animals being on someone else's property. There is a very simple way to avoid anything "going to blows", keep your animals on your property. It's really that easy.

Let me restate what I said earlier, I would not personally shoot a dog on my property unless it was threatening but I would not blame someone else for doing so.
