I have personally seen several new hunters shoot a deer with either a bow or a gun and within 10 minutes they are on the ground looking for him. I can't tell you how many deer have been lost or pushed over to a neighbors property because the hunter didn't give the deer time to expire. You spend all season waiting for that shot at a good buck and then you can't wait another hour, two or three to get down and go look for him. I will never understand that mentality.

The next one is to mistaken a button buck for a doe. Just learn what the head of a mature doe looks like or even better, don't shoot any deer that appears by itself, chances are they are a button buck.
