from what i see it pretty easy and not that high .

Federal Fusion and Hornady are looking pretty good .

225 grain seem to be the best all around for the Whelen.

If you just want a hard hitting 150 yards or less deer gun, I liked the 444 Marlin better. If you regularly take shots much farther than that, you'd be better served by a flatter shooting round than the 35 Whelen IMO.

yeah , there might be a 150 to 200 yards shot at times but rare with how i want to use this gun .

i have ever thing pretty much covered but i got a little nitch i want to fill . i got deer being pulled off because of corn being feed next door .

i have a 20yard gap of a stand of old timber between a nasty 5 year old clear cut and the boundary line . so i only got one shot

That gun, sighted in correctly with the 180 grain bullet, is only 8" low at 300 yards. It will do it all.

180-200 are ideal for whitetails but what I know about the Whelen is the caliber typically likes the 225's the best.

For our deer, any bullet will work wonders on them.

That h&r is a whole different beast. It'll shoot a same hole group at a 100 and only drop 6 inches at 200
