central ala,
OK. Tax stuff blahblahbah. Gonna buy a new vehicle. I have always dealt in cash. NEVER had a credit card. Applied for a loan thinking I would have great credit. Credit score of ZERO!!! I own home, land, vehicles, equipment, etc. but have always paid for them up front. I don't understand being punished for paying for stuff but oh well. Anything that can be done to get a good interest rate with a zero score??

You may be debt free but they have no way to assess you as a financial risk without a history of borrowing. I'm OCD about my credit score and I laugh when people say that they'll never own a credit card.

To answer your question, a collateral loan might be your best option for interest purposes.

Find a community bank or credit union that will do actual underwriting and not depend on just a FICO.

Why start borrowing now? Keep it at zero and keep paying cash.

Yep. I take pride in my credit score. I put gas on my card every month just to use the card. An open line of credit can hurt you if you don't use it. Hell that's why I just financed my new ranger.

Paying your utility bills on time should increase your credit rating. Is that not right?

83% of all statistics are made up.

Evidently not!! Thought of getting a credit card just for credit score but with a score ZERO can't get a decent card. Annual fees and APR of like 22.9%.

No. Not paying them and having them sent to a collection agency is a different story.

You need a card to build length of account history. You can build credit by taking out small loans from the credit union as well.

Laugh at people that won't own a credit card? That is a ridiculous comment. Everything he owns is paid for. If I were in his shoes, I'd be laughing at the folks keeping up with their credit score. I'm no financial expert by any means, but trust me if you have all that already paid for, you can get an excellent loan, on excellent terms, just might not be conventional.

central ala,
Pee on it. I didn't understand why I was advised to take a loan on it anyway. I prefer debt free.

But you can use it and still pay it off monthly to avoid that high APR.

Because they make off better by financing than cash payers.

It wasn't the car dealer advising this.

I believe you may be incorrect. You need a track record to prove you will not default.
