Went to one spot this am and busted a gobbler off the roost. ![eek eek](/forum/images/graemlins/default/eek.gif) That sucker was roosted right on the edge of the shooting lane. Sooooo we picked up about 8:30 and went to another place where we had fooled with a bird that never would work good. Anyway, I called and nothing happened. Then my son wanted to try HIS mouth call (ok I say, go ahead), and he hammered at his first set of yelps. We put the calls away and didn't say another word. Then he gobbles much closer when a rooster crows. Finally I see him strutting through the woods at about 100 yards, and were both shook up. He strutts to within about 25 yards of where he thinks the hen should be and drops strutt, and he starts clucking and acting nervous. My son shoots and drops him flat at 25 yards. ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq25/globe_01/new%20video/4523a3b2.jpg) ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq25/globe_01/new%20video/abc60ecd.jpg) ![](http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq25/globe_01/new%20video/dca59d48.jpg) I'll post pics later 1 1/4 spurs 10 3/4 beard and 18 lbs Biggest turkey any of us have ever killed. He doesn't realize what he's done. Looks like he'll be getting this one mounted.

Congrats to you and your son.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

>>>Went to one spot this am and busted a gobbler off the roost.<<< When I first read this, I thought you meant that he shot him off the roost. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) I wasn't gonna criticize him, but I'm glad he called him up instead. Congrats!

I've been so blessed hunting with him. He'll be 11 in june and he's killed a good turkey every year the past three years. He just doesn't know how good he has it. Oh yeah, that poor ol gob early this am like to beat himself to death in that oak tree trying to get away from us. He ended up having to fly 20' right over us. I was so ticked I didn't even consider shooting him. I wanted my son to get him.
