I come before you today to tell you of THE JINX that I am currently experiencing. I believe I have set into motion a curse on myself, and I would like to publicly apologize so that I may possibly be relieved of this burden.
Here are the events that I believe are the culprit.
1. Before the season began, I made a comment on a thread on here about he age of my bow, and how I would like to get a new one, but this one "just keeps killing deer"
2. My brother missed a deer with his bow on opening day in Florida, and I ribbed him saying, "Do you need me to come over there and show you how it's done?" I made remarks that he needed to get a range finder and my opinion should be respected, because my bow kill total was so much higher than his.
3. On opening morning, I made a good quartering away shot on a young doe, I called my wife and asked if she would like to come to the lease and help me track it. I waited around an hour and a half for her to arrive, and while waiting, I set a goal to myself, "I will be happy if I can take 6 deer this year."
And thus it began. In 1.5 hours, most of that deer was eaten, in broad daylight not 75 yards from my stand. I never heard a thing.
The next hunt found me set up on 3 trails converging in an oak flat, at 7:30, a nice fat doe came marching down one trail as pretty as you please. when she entered my shooting lane, at 30 yards, she put her head down to browse. I settled the pin and released only to see her duck and the arrow go sailing over her back. I took out my rangefinder (which i had neglected to use) and found that she was only 20 yards away.
The next hunt out of that same tree the same scenario played out. I was ready this time, or so I thought. Anchor, settle, squeeze, and all hell breaks loose. The arrow flies off harmlessly, nowhere close to the deer. I look around stunned as to what could have happened. I then notice that my fancy new primos bow hanger was positioned such that it was in between my upper limb and the string when I released. Primos bow hanger goes in trash.
I change locations to a new stand that I am really excited about. I hunt it today and late this evening just before last light I have a nice fat doe coming in, 25 yards away. I draw, she hears the arrow sliding across the rest and stops. She is standing broadside and is about to leave my lane. Anchor, settle, aim small and low, and release. You guessed it, she ducks and the arrow narrowly sails over her back.
I just want to publicly say that I have learned my lesson. THE JINX is here and I know I must just ride it to the end. I have earned all that I have and will receive.
I have not missed more than one deer in a season in my 15 years of bowhunting, until this one. Can any of you guys share any similar experiences so that I don't feel so bad? Anybody got a good JINX remedy?

The only solution is to find a pecan tree and kill a large black bird, boil it for three hours, and then eat it until nothing is left but bones. Then, take the two biggest wing bones and put in each front pocket each time while hunting.
Don't give up, don't ever give up!

You will never kill another deer. Sorry.

I have the bow jinx this year myself. I've drawn on three deer this year arrow came in knocked on one, missed deer came back and I hit it in the head on another got away and clipped one. My buddies were floored since I usually kill several every year with my bow.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
