I've dog hunted for 30+ years and have NEVER saw a dog or pack of dogs catch a healthy deer with the exception of a few spotted fawns. I hunt with some guys who run fox pen dogs that can absolutely burn a deers ass up and they never come close to catching one. My guess is something was wrong with the deer in the OP's original post. It had already been shot or crippled in some way. I've seen deer races with 10+ head of walkers and the old buck just hopping right along in front of them like he's playing with them. A mature buck is WAY too smart to get caught by a dog.
