I am looking to get my son a bow for Christmas. He is 4 soon to be 5. Any advise on a for him? Not looking for him to kill a deer with it just something we can shoot targets together with.

This is the one I got my boy for his 6th bday. Tons of adjustability. He loves it and the bow shoots great

Are these ready to go out of the box or do they need to be set up for him?

The bowtech diamond atomic comes with everything to shoot expect a peep site and release. Draw lenght is adjustable from 12-24" and 6-29lbs. It is easy to make adjustments and does not require a press

The genesis is ready to shoot. It is used in the school programs. The great thing about it, is there is no stop on the draw length. You can both shoot it. I have been schooled numerous times by my youngest daughter.

The reason I recommended the Genesis was because of his son's age and he was just wanting something for him to shoot targets with. If he would have been a couple of years older and wanted to use it to hunt with I would have recommended the Bear Apprentice. If he was around 10 I would have recommended the Mission Craze.

Isaac's got a Browning Micro Midas he's been messing with, but we'll upgrade in a year or 2. It's 25-35# and adjustable from 23"-28". He doesn't know it yet, but as soon as he can pull 50#, he's got a Hoyt Katera with his name on it...

I just bought 6 junior bows for a church archery program and chose the Genesis. Mostly because of the company and service i got when searching the options. They are all good bows though.
