I almost had a chance this morning at the 7pt I got on camera but, he wouldn't come up out the thicket to my right. Squirted it about 5 yards deep and went on outta site.

I'll be back out Saturday and Sunday, we planted three greenfields friday, so we need this rain tomorrow bad. I hope it soaks the ground real good!

Found out what the problem with the boat was, wrong starter soleniod. Guess that's what you get when you by a used boat sometimes.Solenoid wasn't for a marine starter, so I'm thinking it got moisture in it,and shorted out.

No blood, but had a good hunt this afternoon. Saw 4 eight Pts, 3 were very nice. 1 was about 125-130 inches. They were about 60 Yds in middle of old dried beaver pond, but I'm not comfortable with shooting that far. Gonna see if they come back tomorrow.

Well....I missed one Thursday morning. Group of does changed the way they were traveling by a stand and I had to cut two little trees to open a lane between two pines. Nothing major as far as trimming goes. Big doe came in around 9:30 and stopped with her neck stretched sniffing around and body behind a pine. She scent checked everything and was about to take another step when something fell behind her. She spooked and I thought she was about to bolt. Came back in a few minutes later and finally gave me a shot in the lane, but she just flat out ducked the arrow. I told myself to aim low, but obviously it wasn't low enough. Her chest hit the ground, arrow over back, and they all took off. Never did find the arrow, but I saw it go over her back. Broke my heart as I watched....

I'm working all weekend, so she should calm down by the time I get back in there. Third time in the woods so far, but should be able to get back out Mon/Tues.

Sorry about the miss slgunnel, but they'll be back.

I saw a spike yesterday, but no sign of the bucks from Thursday. Sort of second guessing about not trying the shot at 58 steps, but I know letting them walk was right call. I now know where they live though and see some sick leave in the near future.

I think you made the right choice too, scrubbuck. Like you said, you know where they are, so it's only a matter of being at the right place at the right time. I'd have some sick leave too if I were you. Good luck on getting him!!

I'm back at it again today. Sitting on a big greenfield in Marengo Co.

I had a good afternoon, saw 2 does, 9 turkey's, a 7pt, a4 pt, and 5 more bucks came out right at dark, and I couldn't tell how big they were.

Sounds like yall are having good hunts. Hopefully somebody will close the deal soon on a buck. It's been a slow weekend for me. Wife had to work so I been once and didn't see a deer. I'm going back out this evening and tomorrow morning to try and connecting on one.

Saw 9 does this weekend down on the corp land between Saturday, and Sunday morning. First chance I've had to hunt it. Think I'm going to like hunting down there. I'm going to try and go back opening week of gun season if I can get off from work. The guy I bought the lots from he and his buddy were down they killed a hog, 2 does and a 3 pt.

Thanks if they wouldn't have changed the law to one deer a day on national forest lands. I would have took the air out of a doe. Three came in shortly after he quit kicking around. Think they were curious because they nosed around in there for awhile before wondering off. I've got next week off so hopefully I'll get a shot at one of them.

Getting ready to host a bunch of kids for the youth hunt weekend at Majestic Outdoors. As of tonight, we have 137 kids registered to come in on Friday and stay until Sunday night to hunt! Excited and scared all at the same time...HA!
