north40 take and rotten the tails down over the summer, then pull only the black oil off . the black oil works as a dang good canine lure or a dang good lure base. since i first started teaching how to make that oil 20 years ago some lure makers now buy the tails or sale the black oil as a lure and even as a lure ingredent and the left over junk will make a canine dig to china .trust me those tails are worth more to you for lure and bait then they are for sale. those tails will make black oil for two years, just keep pulling the oil off. a gal of tails will make a qt of oil over one summer and a half gal of bait. they don't produce gas as most meats will, but i still open the jugs once a week to check them. they are not loud as one would think.
check out northlands lures they sale tail oil for 18 bucks for 4 oz
also i have a friend that had a bucket of cat meat, snake meat and rotten tails and his dogs by passed every thing in the truck and ate the bucket of tails lol never took a bite of the snake or cat meat .he gave a friend a pint of tail bait to a friend and he never got to use it because his dog ate it lol.
remember beaver tails are a natural lure and bait. also you don't have to preserve any thing 100% natural
JON glad the lure worked for you. keep it up.was the yote caught were the yotes was rejecting the sets and lure.
suck it up,grow a bigger pair and love what GOD gave you

Yea sir, I had caught a few on Russ Carmen's lure and they went dry on me so I set a couple more traps with your lure and caught the two.

Yea sir, I had caught a few on Russ Carmen's lure and they went dry on me jon thats what got me making my own lures, i travel state wide trapping, including wyo, and mexico trapping. when you move in a area first off you never know how many trappers was there before you and what type of bait and lure used.so to fix that problem i started making my own lures and baits.if you make your own then you know the animal has not wised up from it.also i tend to change lures every season but i will go back and reuse the same lure every other year.

I liked to have missed the one this morning. Had her by the toes. You still got her and that's the positive side! If you get that often you may have to increase your pan tension to get more of their weight on the pan before it fires!

Hey William do you cut the tails up or leave them whole for the oil? Also do you pour the oil off or just dip the black oil off. Thanks

Mr. William these are your recipes so post them if you want too! I don't have time to make lures between all my hobbies!

Yes sir Mr. William if you want to post the recipe go ahead. I appreciate you letting me test them for you. So far Ive only used the Yote Gland and Canine Rub and i like what ive seen so far. I will be useing the others before long and I'll keep posting feedback to let you know the results.

jon cut the tails up in chunks ,fill the gal jug 3/4 full. as you get tails just chunk and keep adding them, once the tails start to slow down in the fall , i then ground up the waste, you will have three layers, bottom solid waste, second clear liquid, some times light yellow and the top will be black ,looks like burned motor oil. goe to dollar store get a squeeze top turkey baster and pull the black oil off leave the clear liquid as that is worthless and will freeze you do not want that but it needs to stay in the tails, shake them tails once a week if you see the tails start to dry out on top. then stick in the direct sun light or in a warm room. like i said do not worry about a loud stink, this year was the first time that i found out that the tails made oil for two years , found a left over jug in the shed were my son moved it when he cut the grass and i know it was two years old. that jug has about 8 oz of oil right now, i will try to take a pic of that jug so you can see what it looks like in the break down, some like to ground the tails but i don't because of other waste that comes out when i pull the oil, it don't hurt but i prefer nothing in the black oil as i use that in a lot of cat and canine lures, that cat lure i sent has both lanolin and beaver tail oil in it as a base.
ok guys i will do step by step process on how to make these lures, now were do you want these posted at, and sorry north40 if i made this thread go off topic
