A large corral trap is still important even when using some sort of hog triggered device. When set up properly and baited correctly, you can still have a great chance of catching the entire sounder. This sounder was caught in a 6 panel trap with an 8 ft gate and a root stick. The sounder was 4 big pregnant sows, 5 gilts, and 4 little boars. This trap caught 12 just a few weeks ago. Both cases, the entire sounder was caught.

I swear I'd rather see a pile of dead pigs than a pile of dead rattle snakes. That's awesome!

What a load of bacon. Nice. A lot of work processing that haul right there but would be worth the weight.

Barry, all we use is root sticks and drop style gates and we catch entire sounders all the time. Record is 22 in one trap.

When using a root stick without a remote door patience and camera monitoring is the key to success. You must only set the trap when everything is right, and not before. But yes it can be done.

Yes, it is a LOT of work.
Did you pre bait the area? If so, it shouldn't take but a day or two. If you didn't pre bait, it could take a few days. On a pre baited location, I have had pigs enter within 5 hours.
I don't put up traps blind. I always pre bait and make sure I have pigs hammering the location before I spend the effort to put up a trap.
