Anyone attend the scrimmage today? I heard Coker wasn't very impressive and Blake Sims continues to impress.

Rece Davis said he thinks Sims will start. I guess bammer will have to run a gimmick offense too.

After the scrimmage saban said that Sims "played a little faster today" and that coker was "feeling his way a little bit." Neither player has won the job yet so we will see.

And why does it have to be that coker played bad? It sounds like both QB's are playing well. I guess we have on different shades of glasses.

and Blake Sims continues to impress. Improve or impress? He may be impressive running the wildcat, but his play action looks as impressive as a 5yr old rounding "Amen Corner" at Augusta.

If Sims continues improving on his play being at 7/8, TD, and no picks I'll be thrilled. I like Coker's 65 TD bomb but 2/9 is a rough start. We'll see throughout the day. Keep it coming guys.....and thanks!!! 8/16 2:11 PM | IP: Logged

I'm sure that they were up in certain situations so the stats may be skewed a little but we can't have a lot of TOs. Good thing we still have 2 weeks left before the game. RTR "DOING THE MOST" 8/16 3:11 PM | IP: Logged

It does sound pretty bad. But, dont panic, scrimmages in the past have had similar results and it didnt mean terrible season. I think maybe 08 and 09 our defense dominated the scrimmages and those were some great teams. 8/16 3:24 PM | IP: Logged

I think you may be right on the defense. The front seven seems to be hurrying the QBs and the secondary is in a feeding frenzy.
Also, the kicking game is coming around. I said it before months ago....give Griffin time to shake off the jitters and he'll be a good one!!! This post was edited on 8/16 3:59 PM by Ttide

Good friend was at the scrimmage. Not going to release numbers, because they were asked not to...but 3-17 is NOT correct. Coker does seem a little slow with his progression through his reads, but he's only practiced with the team for 2 weeks now. He should improve given time, but some say that was the main knock on him at FSU. We'll see.
Very few carries from Bama's 1st three running backs (Yeldon, Drake, Henry).
Bama puts its first string offense against its first string defense in scrimmages. AJ's scrimmage stats last year were all in the 50% completion range.
I wouldn't get too excited yet, if I were an opposing fan.
