This is a serious question that seems really funny to me. I know of one person that has been selected 3 of the last 4 years and another that has applied three years and drawn two years. I have applied 7 years total and never drawn an alternate even. Both people have lifetime hunting licenses. The reason I mention that is there is a statement in the packet they receive that states." Must be a resident and have a alabama lifetime hunting license". I know several people who have drawn tags who don't have a lifetime hl. I think either once someone has drawn or they have a lifetime hl they are more likely to draw every year. One person was drawn 7 years I was told and there is nothing random about that. Am I the only one who finds this fishy?

It seems there could be a very simple algorithm for allowing folks that haven't been drawn in several years to go to the top of the heap. Come back to reality we are talking about government.

Prior to this year, you could basically pay for enough entries to almost guarantee you were drawn. I believe that's why they changed it to the one entry per region per person this year. Supposedly they are awarding preference points to those who were not drawn beginning this year so that your odds are increased in future draws. I haven't been able to find anything to explain the preference points though.
For the record, I'm a lifetime license holder and drew the first year they had the hunt. I'm 0/3 since then

I have thought the same thing before. How can the same guys get drawn every year? Dude..you're a lawyer and you have to ask that kind of question?

I've got a lifetime fishing and hunting. I wasted a bunch of money trying to get drawn probably would have been cheaper to go kill a gator and worry about getting caught and just pay the fine
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I quit applying after doing so for several years and not even getting drawn as an alternate. I don't plan to apply again, either.
