I'm a huge Tikka fan and my primary deer rifle is a T3 270.

However I don't understand all the hype associated with short action Tikka's. Technically they aren't even short actions. They use a spacer in the magazine and different bolt stops for the shorter cartridges. This basically negates all the advantages of a short action (stiffer action, shorter overall length, etc.)

If you are going to shoot a long action rifle then why not choose a long action caliber to go with it and gain a little better ballistics?
