Just curious how other 401k are performing. YTD I am getting 4.83%. Honestly don't know if that is low, high, or average.

Anyone got any insight?

Mine was right around 4%. Much worse than last year.

Yep, I'll get a quarterly statement in a few days, I expect mine to be way better than 4%.

I checked mine a few days ago and it was around 14%. I am extremely aggressive with mine.

I thought I was fairly aggressive but maybe not enough. It would be sweet if I could get it to 11%!!

Mine year to date is 15.56%. I haven't checked it all year so that is a nice surprise. To bad I don't have a couple million in it.

I am with fidelity. It's an old plan that a past employer let me keep when I left after 8 years with them......80% in real estate, 20% in contrafund......I need to transfer it all to real estate I guess because that is what has been earning me the money the last few years. I rolled over a few K from a right out of college job I had for 2 years, was vested after 5 with the second company, and now it just sits there with no contributions into it earning interest. I have thought several times about doing something else with it to invest it better, but it makes me a few thousand every year and I forget I even have it there. I am on state retirement now and can't roll I to there so I guess I will leave it where it is unless someone has a better idea for me to try. I need to start putting back into rsa1 again too.

Do you manage your accounts or do any of you let your 401k program manage them for a fee?

Just remember the higher the returns, the more risk usually. Markets don't always go up.

I do it, ain't nothing to do though. I set it all up split 5 ways to begin with. I'm down to the 2 listed above now and might go to 1 soon. Since 2009 real estate has been going up. I lost like 9% the best I remember in 2009, but gained it all back the next year and have went way up since.

I'm clueless when it comes to investing. I've tried to educate myself via the internet but I lose patience quick with it.
