A few nights ago while driving home in the drizzling rain a I hit an owl which flew in front of my truck. I couldn't get stopped and he was in attack mode so he didn't pull up. I think he was after a frog as there were several hopping across the road. It hurt my heart because I love birds of prey. I know it is illegal to have even a feather in possession so I left him on the side of the road. I hated to leave him but that's what I did. I didn't think about it at the time but I wish I had thought to call a game warden to see if the state could have used him in any way. Couldn't tell that he was hurt in any way other than he was dead (not trying to be funny here just trying to stop the jokes). By the way he was a beautiful Barred owl with a wingspan of about 4 feet.

Too bad he couldn't avoid your vehicle. They are cool birds and I like to watch em when one occasionally comes along when I'm hunting. Had one fly along side my truck a couple of months ago as I was easing along a road on our lease. Then it lit in the road at a puddle in front of me and drank from the puddle. I got a good bit of it on video.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I'm with DW, besides enjoying listening to them I hate them.

Same here, like hearing them get cranked up during turkey season and calling up the owls. But, they are bad on poults. Silent hunters and at night at that.

To me they taste just like a spotted owl, but with a more coarse texture like a baby seal.

Had one do the same thing, flying along side the vehicle, and then ahead and landed on the side of the road ahead of me. I pulled slightly past him, and grabbed a trail camera in the passengers seat, and took a few pics.

God Bless,
