Finally back in the woods. Cool and foggy this morning in southeast Madison County. Set up on some white oaks that are dropping. Got in later than usual. Gonna try to sit till dinner time. Haven't seen anything in here early so gonna try a late morning sit.

My view this morning.

I am on a hardwood ridge watching the persimmon trees like a hawk

Back in the same stand as yesterday afternoon. This guy has been within bow range since before daylight and it's 7:38 now. Maybe his grandpa will stroll through.

I corrected the date. I'm set up on a hardwood ridge with two white oaks and a red oak dropping acorns within bow range. Emmett is set up on another ridge about 400 yards north of me. Nothing but tree rats so far.

Set up in the middle of an acorn flat. Not many white oaks are dropping yet. Just had 3 does walk by at 20 yards.

Moved locations to a fresh greenfield after seeing nada on the edge of a creek bottom. I was semi stalked by a lab size coyote this morning while walking to the stand. Lord I need a pistol, otherwise that sucker would be dead. Scared the shit out of me when I heard him get up and start walking along with me. My light didn't even scare him away, strange.

Nothing but squirrels and rabbits this morning. Gonna be to hot for deer hunting this afternoon so we are gonna go try to catch some crappie.

Moving locations allowed to at least kind of see a deer. Had one lurking on the edge of a tiny forest food plot, got within 35 yards and decided it didn't like what it saw and eased back out. Too thick to see or shoot. Had my legs shaking and heart pumping, first deer I've seen on a hunt this year. good luck to anyone going out this afternoon, it's hot.

Just got set up in a swamp chestnut on the side of a foodplot with a swamp behind me. Should be good.

Ready for the sun to get behind some trees. HOT

Any deer within a mile down wind is gonna smell me. My walk in was all down hill but I'm soaked with sweat.
