I know this is a deer hunting forum, and it's something I've enjoyed most of my life. I think I'm going to take this year off, and maybe next year too. I lost my dad this year, and he was my hunting partner for many years. I just don't think I have the heart for it right now.

No shame in that at all, and sorry about your father. When the time comes we always find our way back to the woods.

Sorry to hear that man. I'm sure he would want you in the woods but that doesn't make it any easier. Hunting has more to do with the people you are with than a stupid deer so I totally understand. You'll be ready to get in the woods again one day.

I'm sorry to hear that about your dad. I understand where your coming from. I lost my little brother/turkey hunting buddy in 2011 and shed a lot of tears that spring walking them logging roads. Time will help things some, however you spend the next season may God be with you thru the grieving process.

This is truth!
Sorry for your loss, man. Hopefully, you'll feel like getting back to doing things you enjoyed with him sooner than later.

I understand what you are saying. But, just maybe, there would be a better way. You might find a new hunter and mentor them like your dad did you. Give back so to speak. I have no doubt it will hurt some and bring back memories, but I bet your dad will be smiling down from Heaven and he will be proud of you.

There is not a hunting season that goes by that I don't remember my grandfather and all the great times we had in the woods and streams back then. And yes, sometimes it brings me to tears. But, I also know he is loving me and laughing at me as well. Giving back may just be the best medicine.
